Nii Lante commends GFA

Minister of Youth and Sports, Honourable Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has commended the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for their overwhelming support for women’s football in the country.

The development of Women’s football in Ghana has been on an upward surge, especially after the introduction of the Women’s League and FA Cup competition that has helped boost the growth and popularity of the game.

In a speech delivered on his behalf by the Chief Director of the Sports Ministry, Frank Quist, on the occasion of the 23rd Ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, the sports minister highlighted the enormous progress the Football Association has made in the growth of women’s football.

“It is an undeniable fact that Women’s football in the country has come to stay and, let me use this opportunity to congratulate the FA for getting the first sponsorship
package for women’s FA competition and we’ll like to encourage the GFA to employ more innovative ways of getting more competition for our women.”

He added: “As the country is preparing to the 2018 African Women Cup of Nations, let’s collaborate and prepare very well and host a memorable tournament which will spur our women to lift the trophy for the first time,” he concluded.
