English Premier League side Newcastle have joined the race to sign Ghana international Abdul Rahman Baba from Champions Chelsea.

The Magpies are in the market seeking for a left-footed lateral defender and according to the Mirror, Christian Atsu has already recommended Baba to his boss Rafa Benitez.

The Upon-Tyne based club however faces strong challenge from fellow EPL side Everton as well as Italian duo of Fiorentina and Roma.

The Ghanaian is getting back to full fitness after spending almost the whole year in the treatment room and he is expected to be back soon.

Baba recently confirmed his immediate return but declined to mention whether he will stay at Chelsea or move elsewhere.

“I have almost fully recovered and it is likely I may even play some games before the year ends. Now I am training and doing other forms of exercises to keep fit,” Baba told footballmadeinghana.com

The Black Stars defender was on loan at Schalke when he got injured whilst on national assignment with the Black Stars in the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
