New stadium at Odumase-Krobo

Asesewa, July 24, GNA - The Manya Krobo District Assembly in the Eastern Region is collaborating with a Serbian company, Universal Exports SA, towards the construction of a 35-million dollar sports stadium in the District.

Already, the two entities have engaged the Architectural and Engineering Service Company to work on the drawings for the proposed stadium, which is to be located at Odumase Krobo, the District Capital. Mr David Sackitey Asare, the District Chief Executive, disclosed this when he presented sports kits worth 10 million cedis to the ten top teams that participated in a two-day gala event at Asesewa on Sunday. The recipients emerged the best out of 20 others in the Upper Manya Constituency of the District that participated in the tournament organized three weeks earlier.

Odometah Football Club, which emerged as the best team after defeating Mensah Darwah Football Club by one-nil in the finals, was rewarded with a trophy, a set of jerseys, a football and a pump. The Mensah Darwah Football and the Sekesua Youngsters Club, which came second and third, were also given jerseys and footballs while the other seven clubs received a football each.

Mr Asare said the Assembly was determined to sustain the development of sports in the District but would require discipline and dedication from the participants.

He said no matter how good a sportsman was, if he failed to acquiesce to discipline, his exploits would only be ephemeral. The DCE, supported by the District Co-ordinating Director, Mr Botinga Moses Al-Hassan, presented the award to the winning teams.
