Netball Association organizes nationwide selection exercise

Accra, April 6, GNA - The Netball Association of Ghana (NAG) will organize a nationwide selection exercise in April to pick players for the national team, the Black Maidens towards the Africa Cup of Nations championship scheduled for Accra next month. The Association has therefore decided to divide the country into three zones for the selection exercise which spans from April 15 to April 19, 2011.

Reverend Emmanuel D. Nikoi, President of NAG in a statement copied to GNA Sports said Zone One which is made up of Greater Accra, Eastern and Volta Regions will hold their tournament on April 15 at Ho whilst Zone Two comprising Central, Western and Ashanti Regions face off on April 17 at Sekondi.

Zone Three consisting of Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions will stage their tournament on April 19 at Tamale. Reverend Nikoi added that the selected players will move to camp to join the old players on April 26 to prepare and defend the Ghana flag at the continental tournament fixed for 13-21 May, 2011. Meanwhile, the Greater Accra Regional netball team beat their Volta Regional counterparts in a trial match on Sunday, April 2 32-2 at Akatsi.

The return leg match comes of on Sunday, 10 April at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex Kaneshie, Accra.
