The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu on Thursday hosted Nima, winners of the 5th edition of the annual Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup.

The Nima Community team, defeated New Fadama 1:0 in the finals last week to win the trophy for the first time since the inception of the tournament, which is organised in honour of the Chief Imam to reinforce his acclaimed values of discipline, unity and peace among the youth of Zongo communities.

Interestingly, Fadama happens to be the base of the National Chief Imam, and despite his presence at the finals, Nima had no mercy on Fadama in the finals.

Receiving the victorious Nima players and officials, as well as organisers of the tournament, Sheikh Sharubutu congratulated all communities who participated in the tournament, particularly Nima for emerging victorious.

He advised the players to remain focused, and also prayed for Allah to bless the players to succeed in their careers.

While expressing his delight at the organisation of the tournament, Sheikh Sharubutu also prayed for Zongo communities and the entire nation for peace and prosperity.

Sheikh Sharubutu also donated ointments to the triumphant Nima team

Coordinator of the tournament, Tamimu Issah, thanked the Chief Imam for his continuous support and commitment towards the tournament.

The victorious Nima team have also presented the trophy and medals to the Chiefs and elders of the Nima Community, as well as the Municipal Chief Executive of East Ayawaso, Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Adams.

The 5th edition of the Shaikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup was specially dedicated to the celebration of the 100th birthday.
