Ghana defender Nathaniel Adjei played full throttle of the game as FC Lorient returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Red Star FC in the French Ligue 2 on Friday.
The Orange lads headed into the game hoping to win following a narrow setback against Amiens last week.
Before the match against Red Star, coach Olivier Pantaloni made some lineup adjustments. Nathaniel Adjei, Panos Katseris, and Sambou Soumano were chosen in place of Formose Mendy, Aiyegun Tosin, and Joel Mugisha.
Only 12 minutes into the game, the Stade du Moustoir went berserk after Katseris put the home team ahead.
Red Star subdued the boisterous home crowd after only two minutes of recess, thanks to French forward Merwan Ifnaoui.
However, Soumano's 77th-minute penalty strike was all FC Lorient needed to secure their third victory of the season.
Adjei, who had a terrible ankle injury that kept him out of the team's pre-season, was voted the second-best player on the field after goalscorer Katseris.
The Greek-born forward was given an 8.3 rating, while Adjei, who finished second, received a 7.5.
The Ghanaian youngster will be hopeful that his performance on the night would secure him a spot in the team.
FC Lorient will play as guests to FC Metz on Matchday 5 at Stade Saint-Symphorien next Sunday.
