Nania attracts 100 million sponsorship package

Accra, May 18, GNA - Division One League campaigners, Abedi Pele=92s Nania FC have secured a 100 million cedi sponsorship package from Medichem Pharmaceuticals Limited - dealers in pharmaceutical products.

The package, which covers the 2006 and 2007 soccer season, includes supply of pharmaceutical products and healthcare delivery services.

Announcing the package at a press briefing in Accra on Thursday, Mr Bellah Djibrilla Faisal, Franchise Manager of the company, said the company would make available to the club, some of their products such as vitamin capsules like pharmaton, bandages, plasters and pain relieving sprays.

Other health care delivery products to be provided by the company are energy giving products and anti-worm drugs.

He said the company will also provide other health care services such as first aid administration on the pitch, servicing of prescriptions and over-the-counter medicine requirements as well as organise seminars, sports health presentations for players aimed at giving them professional education on health issues.

Mr Faisal said he was optimistic that the offer will aid the Club to promote its vision of churning out young soccer talents for the national teams, since the idea has received less attention over the past years.

Abedi "Pele" Ayew, Founder and President of Nania FC said that the offer will ease the financial burden on the club, especially in areas of health care delivery.

The Soccer Maestro who is also the head of the technical team of the Club said five million cedis is spent on health care each month for the playing body and the package has therefore come at the right time to support the club to meet its needs.

The former captain of the Black Stars said his outfit would put in maximum effort to ensure that the sponsors generate the required benefits from their gesture.

In a related development, Nania FC is expected to leave Accra on Tuesday, May 23 to participate in two youth tournaments in Switzerland and Germany.

Whilst in Switzerland, the team will be participating in an Under-19 soccer tournament and will play against the likes of Black Rovers of England, AGF Arhus - Denmark, St Gallen and FC Altstatten - Switzerland, Cruzeiro Belo Horionte - Brazil, Beyern Leverkussen - Germany and Atlas da Guadalajara - Mexico.

On completion of the tournament in Switzerland, the Ghanaian team will proceed to Germany to engage in another tournament, which will feature teams like the Under-20 national teams of Croatia, Vfl Nagold, Hajduk Split, Stuttgart, Tus Engenzingen and Kaiserlautern - Germany.
