NLA Soccer Cash brought GH¢1m debt – Sports Ministry

Pius Enam Hadzide, Deputy Sports Minister Pius Enam Hadzide, Deputy Sports Minister

Deputy Sports Minister Pius Enam Hadzide has revealed that the National Lottery Authority’s Soccer Cash initiated by the previous administration was a disaster.

According to Hadzide, the Sports Lottery initiated by the past government under the Mahama Ayariga-led administration three years ago had left a debt of over GH¢1m which puts his outfit in a dilemma.

The lottery which was aimed at raising revenue to invest in basic sports infrastructure, promote the local league and sports in basic schools has been disastrous due to losses through advertisement, according to Hadzide.

“On the Soccer Cash we have not made one dime or Pesewa and it is a disaster. So I think those who were in charge will be the best to explain this disastrous act. As we speak our indebtedness is over GH¢1m for advertisements”, he told Starr Sports.

However, the Ministry is finding ways and means to settle the financial loss.
