NEC fans support fascinates Appiah

German midfielder of Ghanaian origin Marcel Appiah is happy with the support he is receiving from the NEC fans as they chant his name during games.

Twenty-six-year-old Appiah moved to the Dutch Eredivisie side from Arminia Bielefield of Germany and is already becoming the hero of the team.

“It still feels strange,” Appiah told De Gerlander. “I have not experienced this before.”

“I've been a professional footballer for a while, but this is really very special. Nice too. That song feels like a tribute from the fans to me. They think that I do well. That is very special.”

Appiah also talked about his former club Arminia Bielefield where he played last season. “We were relegated via the play-offs. I knew I was going to leave.”

The 26-year-old, who was born in Italy to a German-Ghanaian parents is eligible to play for all three countries.
