Mylik registration exercise ends on July 31

Accra, July 7, GNA 96 The registration exercise for the 2006 edition of the Mylik Classic Under-19 Soccer Tournament is scheduled to come to a close on July 31.

A statement issued from Mylik Sports Limited, organisers of the tournaments said the first 12 teams which will register will be given the nod to participate in the tournament. The tournament is fixed for November 18-26 at the Nicholson Stadium, Burma Camp.

According to the organisers, the tournament is aimed at providing an exposure for young and upcoming players to show case their skills and talents.

It is also to provide the framework for identifying young talents for observation and monitoring and to set in motion the process of solving the perennial problem of the use of over aged players in juvenile football competitions.

The tournament also seeks to provide a mechanism for instilling confidence and discipline in young football players through early exposure to the pressures of high-level competition amongst others. The statement called on interested teams to contact the organisers for registration in order to avoid last minute registration. In a related development, the 2006 edition of the Annual Dansoman Under-14 Charity Football Gala will come off at the Liberty Stadium, Dansoman on Saturday, August 17.

The charity gala is to raise funds to equip the Dansoman Community Library.

Eight teams are to vie for honours in the one day competition. The teams include Liberty, Datus, Mylik and Tom Vernon Academy. Others are Mount Olivet School, Most Holy Heart School, Riis Memorial and Blessed Schools. 07 July 06
