Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari is making a quicker-than-expected recovery as he has started gym work.
The 28-year-old was feared to be ruled out for about six months after a successful operation to fix a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee.
Muntari sustained the career-threatening injury while on vacation in his native Ghana in June.
The injury could make the ex Inter Milan player misses the most part of AC Milan’s campaign this term.
He is now a major doubt for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted by South Africa in January (if Ghana qualifies).
The Milan star is however making remarkable progress on his way back to full fitness as he has started running on the treadmill.
He will also be visiting the doctors who operated on him for a review in 45 days time.
“The doctors and physiotherapists are working well and I’m recovering well, but I must not exaggerate,” Muntari said.
“In 45 days time I’ll see the surgeon who operated me and we’ll see what he says.”
