Muntari hands in Inter transfer request

ROME — Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has asked to leave Inter Milan, technical director Marco Branca said on Saturday.

Speaking to Sky TV ahead of the champions' clash with Bologna at the San Siro, Branca admitted that the out of favour 26-year-old is angling for a move away from Milan.

Having been a near automatic first choice under Jose Mourinho in his first season at Inter, Muntari lost his place in the team last season and has featured even less this term.

He's made just 12 appearances in all competitions, mostly as a substitute.

"He has made himself available to leave as long as a team wants him and is interested in him," said Branca.

"He's a lad who is close to us, he's a good person even though sometimes he expresses opinions typical of someone who wants to play."
