Mumuni back to training after battling "Chicken Pox"

London, Aug. 31, GNA - Paracyclist Alem Mumuni had to battle with Chicken Pox for one week before returning to active training on Thursday evevening ahead of his event next week in the 14th Paralympic Games in London.

GNA Sports gathers that, the cyclist has since last week been sidelined from training due to acute "Chicken Pox" when the team moved from its camping base in Bedford University to the Games Village in Stratford.

Mumuni, who had marks of the pox all over his body, however told the GNA Sports at the Games Village on Thursday, at Stratford that, he has seen massive improvement in his health and will resume training later in the day.

Mumuni, Africa's leading Paracyclist and one of Ghana's medal hopeful, said he hopes to intensify his training programme in the rest of the week to pick up his form after some few weeks of absence.

The Ghanaian who is scheduled to race between September 5-7, told GNA Sports that, the schedules of his event will also help him to have adequate training and make up for the losses in the past days.

"I hope to be in my best form by next week. I am getting back to training as early as possible because i have to lift the flag of Ghana high.

"I will lift high the flag of Ghana no matter the circumstances. No form of sickness will deter me from participating in the Games because i am here to compete and make a case for disable people in Ghana". He stated.

He said sports is about self belief, discipline, commitment and dedication and they remained his key principles as he attempts to write his name in the history books of Paralympic Games.

According to Mumuni, he has been looking forward to an opportunity to participate in the Paralympic Games and described the London 2012 Pralympics Games as perfect platform to showcase his talent.

"Paralympics is not all about winning medals but to showcase talents and participate on a global platform and that is what we are here to do.

"But i will also do my best to win laurels for the nation and that is what i have been working for in the past months." He stated.
