Birmingham Legion FC suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat to North Carolina FC in an exciting USL Championship match at Protective Stadium.
Despite the loss, Ghanaian defender Moses Mensah made a key impact after coming off the bench in the 64th minute, providing a crucial assist for Birmingham's second goal.
The match began with North Carolina taking an early lead through Ezra Armstrong's goal in the 8th minute.
Birmingham responded in the 32nd minute when Enzo Martínez, assisted by Tyler Pasher, equalized, sending the teams into halftime tied 1-1.
North Carolina regained control in the second half, with Oalex Anderson scoring in the 59th minute and Armstrong adding his second goal shortly after, putting them up 3-1.
Mensah's contribution came in the 89th minute when he set up Rida Zouhir, who fired a long-range strike to reduce the deficit.
However, Birmingham's late surge wasn't enough, and North Carolina held on for the win.
Birmingham will look to bounce back in their next match against Las Vegas Lights FC on October 13th.
