Mohammed bags brace in Kotoko win at Amidaus

Asante Kotoko maintained their four-point lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League with an impressive 2-0 win at Amidaus Professionals on Sunday.

A Yahaya Mohammed double was all that was required to pick up maximum points for the champions at the Tema Park.

Mohammed, fresh from helping Ghana win its first ever WAFU Cup made no mistake in opening the scoring having been put through by Seidu Bancey after 37 minutes.

The dread-locked hair quasi striker rounded the goalkeeper neatly to side-foot the ball home to give Kotoko the deserved lead.

The goal awakened the hosts as they launched attacks upon attacks which proved futile as the match went into recess with Kotoko in the lead.

Amidaus continued with their high-pressing game in the second half but the finishing was clearly lacking in their game.

The champions made their inexperienced opponents pay for their profligacy with Yahaya Mohammed getting on the end of a well-worked corner kick to complete his double.

The win sees Kotoko firmly rooted at the top of the Ghanaian top flight with just two matches to the end of the first half of the season.
