Minister sends condolence message to Breden Walker's family

Accra, Jan. 6, GNA - Papa Owusu Ankomah, Minister of Education, Science and Sports has on his and on behalf of the entire sporting fraternity of Ghana, extended condolence to the bereaved family and the Management and Staff of Goldfields Ghana Limited following the sudden death of their former Managing Director, Mr Breden Walker.

A message from the Minister said he received with great shock and grief the news of the death of Mr. Breden Walker, which occurred after a motor accident.

The message said it was during the late Breden Walker's tenure of office that he approved the three million sponsorship package for the senior national team, Black Stars which runs out at the end of the 2008 African Cup of nations to be hosted by Ghana.

It said the company's gesture under the leadership of late Breden Walker is the biggest support package in Ghana Sports and undoubtedly was largely responsible for the Stars qualification for the 2006 World Cup and their subsequent glittering performance at the tournament. The message said it is regrettable that at the time the seeds he sowed have started bearing fruits, he has been called to eternity. It concluded that Breden Walker left a legacy in Ghanaian sporting circles which will forever be remembered. 06 Jan. 07
