Michael Osei: The amazing record of a managerial genius

After retiring from playing soccer in 2007, Michael Osei, the former Ghanaian Midfielder, has gone on to enjoy an illustrious career in management, leading and assisting football clubs across the globe to achieve various titles and feats. He pursued coaching courses in Germany and Ghana.

Offenbach Kickers U23, Germany

Michael had his first coaching experience at Offenbach Kickers U23 as an assistant coach from 2007 – 2008. Whiles working as an assistant for Offenbach Kickers U23, the team performed very well and won the German Landesliga that soccer season.

Michael had another successful coaching experience with FSV Frankfurt U23 as an assistant coach for two years (2008-2010). During his stay with FSV Frankfurt, the U23 team of the club won some trophies.

New Edubiase Football Club, Ghana

Michael joined New Edubiase Football Club in Ghana as an assistant coach in 2011 to 2013.

Michael stay at New Edubiase as an assistant coach saw the club in winning the Ghana MTN FA cup in 2011/2012 soccer season.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club, Ghana

With a good record as a coach, Kumasi Asante Kotoko announced Michael as the assistant coach for the club in 2013. He served as an assistant coach from 2013-2015. As an assistant coach for the Kotoko, the club won several titles.

During the 2013/2014 Ghana MTN FA cup finals the head coach had travelled for an equally pressing assignment, as a result Michael acted as the head coach for the final match against Inter Allies Football Club. As acting head coach Michael guided the team to win the 2013/2014 Ghana MTN FA cup.

Again in 2015 the management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko appointed Michael to act as the head coach of the club. As an acting head Coach Michael led the team to win the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top 6 (G6).

In 2016, Michael was appointed as the head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko. During Michael’s tenure as the head coach, he worked assiduously and revived the club from the relegation zone (16th) to 5th place on the 2016 Ghana Premier League Table. Upon being appointed, Michael worked in association with the Directors of Kotoko and made several new signings. As the head coach of the club, Michael worked diligently and won the 2016 Ghana.

If ever a job seemed like a double-edged sword this was it in 2017, after couple of months sabbatical Michael had an appointment as the head coach of a club that was at the bottom of the Ghana Premier League Table. Upon his signing into Liberty Professionals as the head.
