Circuit Court Judge outdoored Chief

Abura Dunkwa (C/R), April 13, GNA - The Central Regional Minister, Mr Jacob Arthur, has expressed concern about the numerous cheftaincy disputes in the region, which is eroding the dignity of the institution.

He described the institution as a 'unifying force for development" and urged kingmakers to follow the tradition for selecting and enstooling chiefs. The Regional Minister attributted the disputes to the deviation from the traditional norms and undue consideration for wealth in the selection of chiefs, which has resulted in "non-royals ascending stools".

"This practice must stop for the resources dissipated on litigations to be channelled into development". Mr Arthur was addressing a durbar to outdoor Nana Afrasah II, Obaatan of Abura Dunkwa on Saturday.

Nana Afrasah who is known in private life as Mr Kofi Essel Mensah, is a Circuit Court Judge at Dunkwa-on-Offin. The Chief reminded the people that the development of the community is a collective responsibility and advised them to do away with divisive tendencies and to rally behind the chiefs to initiate projects.

Nana Afrasah asked citizens of the area residing outside to pay regular visit to assist the people.
