Mfantseman East MP raises team for Constituency Games

Ekumfi Narkwa, (C/R), March 21, GNA - The Mfantseman East Member of Parliament, Mr George Kuntu Blankson has in collaboration with the constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is organizing games to raise football and volleyball teams for the area.

Speaking at the first football and volleyball matches between Narkwa and Immuna Electoral Areas, Mr Blankson, who is also the Deputy Majority Chief Whip of Parliament said his decision to organize the games among the eight electoral areas was influenced by President John Evans Atta Mills appeal to the sports associations and the Assemblies to pay attention to the development of lesser sporting events in the country.

The MP said he was worried that there is not a single football team in the Division One League from the Municipality. Mr Blankson therefore appealed to officers in charge of the games to do a diligent work to enable them to form a formidable team that can stand the test of time.

"Where one comes from, must not be an impediment to his or her development. You have what it takes to play for teams like Hearts or Kotoko." Mr Blankson appealed to coaches from the Mfantseman Municipality such as Ebo Mends and Bashiru Hayford and others to join hands to raise a formidable team for the Municipality. He said the event, which was also meant to foster unity among the people of the constituency will also help keep the youth busy to prevent them from indulging in anti-social activities. Narkwa beat Immuna 2-0 in the Volleyball Competition and also recoded a lone goal victory over Immuna in the football match.
