Meteors To Play Benefica, Sporting Lisbon

Ghana?s Olympic football side, the Black Meteors, are set to taste quality competition with exciting friendlies.

The Meteors would be playing against Portuguese Cup winners Benfica and Sporting Lisbon in a special tournament in Lisbon as part of their preparations towards the Olympics games.

The competition, scheduled between August 3 and 8 will form the final brush-up for the Meteors before they depart for Athens on August 9.

The Meteors' training exercise hit a snag last week when five members left camp to join their respective clubs in continental club assignments.

Four of the players from Kotoko returned to Portugal yesterday and Hearts of Oak?s Daniel Coleman would leave Ghana tonight for Portugal.

Coach Mariano Baretto has given the foreign-based component of his squad a July 29 deadline to report to camp.
