Manager of Ghana FA Cup winners Medeama SC Tom Strand, , is highly optimistic about his side's chances of defeating league champions Ashantigold in the 2016 Super Cup scheduled to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
“The past season was good for my team, but I’m looking forward for a much improved performance from the players against Ashantigold on Sunday. I want the boys to start the new season with another cup,” Strand told Goal.
“The two clubs are winners from two different competitions but with our successful preseason, Ashantigold must fall. We need to be focused throughout the game and not to repeat certain mistakes we displayed during the Ghalca G6 tournament.
“Some people think it's just a pre-season game but this is one of the high profile games we need to play ahead of the new season.
“Ashantigold will play in the Caf Champions League so it is more or less like an international game since we will also represent Ghana in the Confederation Cup. I want to win my second major title and this is a perfect opportunity,” he added.
Ghana FA have announced that there will be no charges at the gate during the game.
