TP Mazembe coach Patrice Carteron has named five Ghanaians in a 23-man squad for the 2015 Fifa Club World Cup in Japan.

The Congolese club are Africa’s representatives for the tournament which is set to run between December 10 and 20.

Black Stars winger Solomon Asante leads the pack, having overcome an injury sustained on national duty in November.

Former Berekum Chelsea playmaker and 2009 Fifa Under-20 World Cup winner Gladson Awako, Daniel Nii Adjei, Yaw Frimpong and Richard Kissi Boateng complete the Ghanaian entourage.

Also in the squad are veteran Congo goalkeeper Robert Kidiaba, Ivorian Roger Assale, Tanzania striker Mbwana Samatta and Zambia winger Rainford Kalaba.

Mazembe booked their place in the competition with a 4-1 aggregate victory over Algerian side USM Alger in the final of the 2015 Caf Champions League.

The five-time African champion’s first match will be a quarter-final date with winner of a playoff between a yet-to-be-determined tournament host and Oceania’s representatives Auckland City on December 13.

Japanese clubs Gamba Osaka and Sanfrecce Hiroshima are set to face off to decide who represents the Asian nation as the competition’s host.

Club America, Asian champions Guangzhou Evergrande, South American representatives River Plate and European giants Barcelona complete the line-up.
