Majeed Waris injured, left out of Lorient squad

Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris has been declared injured by his French club Lorient and left out of squad for Sunday’s league clash against Marseille.

The 24-year was not included in Lorient’s 18-man squad for the trip to the Stade Velodrome to face Marseille in the French Ligue 1 game.

Waris is unfit according to Lorient’s medical team after picking up a knock during the 3-2 win over Bordeaux on October 4.

His exclusion comes even though he was part of Ghana’s squad that played Canada in an international friendly just five days ago.

If the injury was not serious he wouldn’t have been left out of the squad for the tough match against Marseille because he is a key player for the club.

The former Trabzonspor attacker has so far scored three goals in six appearances for the Ligue 1 side this season.

The Lorient squad: Lecomte, Chaigneau – Payroll Kone, Toure, Bellugou, Guerreiro, Le Goff – Jouffre Philippoteaux, Mulumba Mesloub, Ndong Barthelmé, Bouanga – Gapka, Moukandjo, Lavigne.
