Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris made a case for himself after being dropped from the Black Stars squad as he scored a brace in Lorient’s 3-1 win over Guingamp in the French Ligue 1.

The attacker was the star man for his side with some blistering performance at the Stade Yves Allainmat - Le Moustoir.

Waris drew his side level in the 72nd minute after Yannis Salibu had shot Guingamp in front.

Jimmy Cabot gave Lorient the lead before the Ghanaian international (Majeed Waris) got his second on the day.

The 24-year-old has now scored six goals for Lorient this season.

The player was snubbed by Black Stars Coach Avram Grant for the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

His performance will raise further questions to what led to his exclusion from the Ghana team.

New signing Alhassan Wakaso could only watch the game from the bench for Lorient.
