Mahama raised local champions like Bukom Banku; not Isaac Dogdoe - John Kumah

John Kumah the Chief Executive officer of the NIEP has debunked assertions seeking to credit the former President John Dramani Mahama for the impeccable display of boxing talent by Isaac Dogdoe to annex the WBO Super Bantamwight title.

To him, it cannot be that the former President is to be applauded to the exploits of young Ghanaian boxer because he was not “groomed here and as fact, he has a British passport”.

“…yes we can praise Ex-President Mahama for putting up the Bukom Boxing Arena and also raised local champions like Bukom Banku and certainly not Isaac Dogboe” the NIEP said on UTV’s flagship program, Adekye Nsroma.

Mr. Kumah said this in reaction to a claim by Alhaji Halidu Haruna, a co-panelist that the likes of Isaac Dogboe are excelling because of the foresight of the fourth President of the Fourth Republic, John Mahama, which has promoted the sport.

However, John Kumah strongly objected to this view and further stated that “ he (Dogboe) has live all his life outside and we only taking the credit”.

Dogboe has become Ghana’s youngest ever boxing champion after knocking out Jessie Magdaleno in Philadelphia on Sunday morning to make him the new WBO super bantamweight/junior featherweight titleholder.

In a fight that sashayed, both boxers were unafraid of giving punches. The Ghanaian won by TKO in eleven rounds.
