Madina won the 3rd edition of the Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan cup after putting up a superb hall mark of football artistry to grab the trophy ahead of top contenders Tudu on Saturday at the Kotobabi Wembley in Accra.

The final game was an highly charged game as it drew lots of spectators to the arena.

The tournament's headline sponor's, Royal Bank, kitted the two teams with blue and white Jerseys each as well as shocks and goalkeepers kit ahead of the final match.



Tudu scored the opener in the fist half from a controversial penalty awarded by the referee after the tournament's top Derrick Sasraku was shouldered to the ground in the penalty box during an air ball challenge.

In the dying minutes of the send fiddle, Madina restored parity courtesy Samuel Osei beautifully curled goal into the corner of the goal post to end proceedings at 1-1.

The game proceeded to penalties after regulation time where Madina were 4-3 victor's after Tudu's fourth penalty taker strike bounced on the top post to the ground before making its way out of the goal area.



The 2017 Champions Madina, took home the trophy, medals as well as GHC 2,000 cash prize whilst runner's up Tudu walked away with GHC 1,000 cedis cash prize and medals. The trophy as usual was presented by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu.



In all 16 teams participated the 3rd edition of the tournament, 12 teams from Accra and two teams each from the Central and Eastern regions.



Outstanding players were presented with mobile phones from NASCO and Latex foam, sponsors of the tournament.



The football fiesta, which is named in honour of the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Usman Nuhu Sharubutu, brings together various Zongo communities to compete in a one-day football gala as part of activities marking the end of Ramadan every year to promote unity among the youth in the Zongo communities.
