Macintosh defends title on February 4

Accra, Jan. 27, GNA - Peter Macintosh, the Rastafarian holder of the national and West African super lightweight boxing title, mounts the ring on Saturday, February 4 to stake his title against Roger Abayatei on a six bout bill packaged by Lions Den International Promotions. Speaking to the GNA Sports in Accra about his preparedness for the fight, the Nigerian born Macintosh said he was going to retire his much younger opponent from boxing.

"Roger is young enough to learn another trade and I shall whip him so well that he will stop boxing and become an apprentice in a mechanic shop."

He said he has found the kind of support he needed to re-launch his career in Mr Boniface Kwabena Amandi, who has put everything at his disposal to make him concentrate on his profession. Macintosh said with the kind of support he is now enjoying, he main plan is to annex the WBC International title, which Mr Amandi has promised to facilitate before the middle of the year. Other bouts lined up for the night include a national welterweight championship between Philip "Sweet Pea" Kotey and hard-hitting Pool Achab.

Maxwell Awuku will challenge Morana Boso in a featherweight fray over six rounds, while Sam Amarako fights Emmanuel Tetteh in an eight round lightweight contest.

Maciano Commey and Love Sackey will slug it out in the middleweight class scheduled for eight rounds and Solomon Bons fights Ben Bortey in a six round featherweight contest.
