Telecommunication giants, MTN say they are happy to be associated with Ghana’s oldest football club competition, the FA Cup. This is according to Peter K. Bimpeh who is the Snr. Manager, Northern Business District of MTN Ghana.

MTN have been the headline sponsors of the Ghana FA Cup for the last seven years, and over the weekend when Kotoko beat Hearts of Oak 3-1 to win the 2017 FA Cup title in Tamale, Peter K. Bimpeh who was at the stadium to witness the game said he was impressed with the entire organization and execution of the final event and the competition in general.

Asked if the MTN FA Cup has given the telecommunication company the needed mileage and brand affinity, Peter Bimpeh said “I think largely it has looking how far we have come since the inception of this competition. This is the seventh year that we are organizing this event and not only has it given us mileage, but it has also been a platform to unearth a lot of talents in Ghana. We as a business like to invest in human resources and football/sports talents and we have demonstrated it over the years with various sponsorship packages to football clubs such as Hearts and Kotoko. So it has been worth the while and we are happy to be associated with the FA Cup competition”.

Peter Bimpeh was full of praise for the FA Cup committee headed by Kurt E.S Okraku and implored them to come up with ideas to make the competition more exciting in the next editions.

The 2017 season of the MTN FA Cup came to a close on Sunday when Asante Kotoko beat Hearts of Oak 3-1 in Tamale to be crowned champions.
The Porcupine Warriors scored three times in the first half, through striker Saddick Adams to win their 9th FA Cup title.

The Porcupine Warriors have been duly rewarded with GH 50, 000 with a further GH100, 000 to come, if they (Kotoko) decide to play in the CAF Confederations Cup.

The winner of the FA Cup automatically qualifies to play in CAF’s second tier competition, but Kotoko can pass-on the opportunity if they feel unprepared or unwilling to do so, in which case they won’t get the GH 100,000 which is meant to help the FA Cup winner prepare for the CAF Confederations Cup.
