Accra, Nov. 4, GNA - The first MNT Ghana Invitational Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, November 21. About 100 golfers have been invited to participate in the one-day 18-Hole Medal Play competition.
Mr Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club told GNA Sports in Accra on Tuesday that the competition which would be played according to the rules of the Ghana Golf Association has Handicap 18 as the entry requirements.
He commended MTN for sponsoring the just-ended Diamond Jubilee Championship adding that the sponsorship of the Invitational championship will go a long towards boosting the morale of the golfers to give off their best.
Among an array of golfers expected to be seen in action would include Mike Aggrey, Mike Ezan, Rene Kwame, Charles Tabi, Matthias Dorfe, Mike Ben-George and Yaw Assah-Sam.
The Ladies section would also see Mona Myles-Lamptey battling Grace Afriyie, Grace Amoah, Clara Price, Florence Etwi-Barimah, Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong and Leticia Amponsah-Mensah. Five prizes would be awarded in the Men's segment while three prizes would also be given out in the Ladies category. There would also be prizes for 'The Nearest to the Pin on Hole 17' and 'Closest to the Pin on Hole 18'. 04 Nov. 09
