MCE donates to Shamo Quaye Memorial Tournament

Tema, Dec. 23, GNA -- The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Robert Kempes Ofosuware on Wednesday donated GH¢10,000 and a trophy worth GH¢8,000 and six footballs to the organizers of the Shamo Quaye Memorial Soccer Tournament in Tema.

Mr Ofosuware said the purpose of the donation was to re-introduce the inter-community tournament which was started some years back in the Metropolis.

He said it was also in fulfillment of his promise to rejuvenate soccer in the Metropolis.

Mr Ofosuware said he was optimistic that the tournament would help unearth football talents amongst the youth of the communities. He said it would also rekindle the communal spirit and interaction among the various communities.

The Metropolitan Chief urged the participants to comport themselves to ensure an incident-free tournament during the six days of the tournament which would start on Thursday, December 24.

Mr David Boafo, Organizer of the tournament, thanked the MCE for his=

kind gesture and promised that the money would be used for the purpose fo= r which it was given. He said 20 communities are to participate in the tournament, with Community One, Site Seven, hosting the event. 23 Dec. 09
