Accra, June 20, GNA - The Ghana Swimming Association (GSA), will from June 25-26, organize the second "National Swimming Open Championship, at the Swimming Pool of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Kumasi.
A statement issued by William Kyei, General Secretary of GSA, copied to GNA Sports said the championship aims at unearthing talents, raise awareness of competitive swimming in Ghana and for justifier among swimmers from the Volta, Central and Ashanti Regions, who are due to participate in the upcoming National Unity Games. According to the statement, participants will engage in the 17 and above, 14 - 16 years, 11 - 13 years and 10 and under-age groups in Backstroke, Freestyle, Breaststroke and Butterfly strokes in the boys and girls categories.
The two-day Kumasi event is open to all swimmers and swimming clubs across the country and prospective swimmers are urged to register either at the KNUST Pool side or the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi from Monday, 20th to Friday, 24th June, 2011 between the hours of 8:00 - 3:00pm daily.
The championship is sponsored by Loya Milk, and supported by the National Sports Authority, Indomie, Zoomlion and Safina Mineral Water. 20 June 2011
