Dormaa-Ahenkro, (B/A) Aug. 23, GNA - Kpando Heart of Lions on Sunday broke the jinx surrounding Aduana Stars' unbeaten home record in 17 competitive matches when they beat them 2-1.

The visiting team not only scored the first-ever goal against Aduana in Dormaa-Ahenkro but also won their last GHALCA Top Four duel by two goals to one to place second on the log.

Aduana Stars is on record to have played 15 GLO Premiership and two GHALCA Top Four matches at the Agyeman-Badu 1 stadium in Dormaa-Ahenkro without conceding a goal but supporters and pundits of the game were compelled to review their notes at Aduana's current unimpressive performance, particularly in the GHALCA Top Four tournament.

Aduana Stars managed only two drawn games out of their six outings and football fans in Dormaa can hardly understand what had befallen the team that had just won the coveted Glo Premier League trophy.

The Top Four match assumed all the thrills and excitement as soon as Accra-based FIFA referee Christiana Enyonam Zigah signaled to two eams into action.

In the 17th minute, Bernard Don Bortey of Accra Hearts of Oak fame pounced on a loose ball in the vital area of Lions, swerved two defenders on the run and found Daniel Kofi Bonsu who had only the goalkeeper Joseph Addo to beat to record the first goal and held on to the end of the first half.

Aduana Stars returned from the recess with their lone lead and managed to protect it until the 73rd minute when Lions' substitute Godfred Asante took advantage of a defensive blunder by the Aduana defenders to place the ball at the blind side of Aduana's goalkeeper Celestine Damptey to register the first-ever competitive goal against Aduana Stars in a home match since the commencement of the 2009/2010 GLO Premiership season.

Asante's equalizer spurred Lions on to carry the game to Aduana Stars and rightly went ahead in the 82nd minute through Gilbert Fiamenyo who headed home the match winner and to collapse Aduana's enviable unbeaten home record.

Fiamenyo was the two-goal hero in Lions' first round Top Four defeat in their match against Aduana at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.

George Gyau, a management member of Aduana Football Club in an interview with GNA Sports, noted that Aduana's abysmal showing in the Top Four competition was a wake-up call for all stakeholders with the Club's welfare to put their acts together to enable it to make any appreciable impact on Africa.

He however assured that the team's preparation for Africa was on course citing the recent fund raising launched by the Life Patron of the Club, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang-Badu 11, Omanhene of Dormaa Traditional Area, as one of the numerous moves to fine-tune the grounds towards their participation in Africa.
