Liege want Afum fee slashed

Belgian giants Standard Liege have asked Egyptian side FC Smouha to reduce the price tag on Ghana striker Samuel Afum.

Smouha have valued the 23-year-old for US$ 2 million and have already turned down a $1.1 million offer from Ahli.

However, the 10-time Belgian champions are willing to offer an amount in the region of US$ 1 million.

Standard Liege confirmed their interest in the former Hearts striker by approaching his representative Mohamed Habashy last month.

Afum-who has two years left on his Smouha contract-has rejected a loan offer from Korean K- league side Daegu.

"They have officially tabled an offer but I'm not interested in Korea,'' Afum said.

"I want to play in Europe and not there. The agent spoke to me but I'm not interested."

Afum netted eight times for Smouha before the Egyptian league was cancelled.
