Liberty Professionals defender Alfred Nelson has arrived in Obuasi ahead of his move to AshantiGold.

The 23-year-old is holding talks on his personal terms after being granted permission by Liberty to make the move.

Nelson was also in talks to join Hearts of Oak but the prospect of playing in the CAF Champions League appears to have swayed the tough-tackling defender to the fold of the Ghanaian champions.

“It is true I am in Obuasi now to seal my move to AshantiGold,” he confirmed to Happy FM.

“Two teams were in contention but AshGold have won the race and we are now halfway through toward sealing the move.”

Alfred Nelson returned to play for Liberty Professionals in 2013 after a failed stint with Swiss club FC Stade Nyonnais.
