Veteran Asante Kotoko midfielder, Jordan Opoku has told his teammates to help make Otumfuo’s desire of seeing his team winning an Africa inter-club competition a reality while entreating his colleagues to back newly appointed team captain, Felix Annan to succeed.
In the opinion of Jordan Opoku, who is one of the most experienced players in the team, they have a great responsibility in Africa this season. The Porcupines will be away to Kano Pillars of Nigeria this weekend in their 2019/20 CAF Champions League, preliminary round fixture.
The midfielder told Kotoko Express that, Otumfuo’s words of encouragement signifies his fervent wish to finally put his hands on an African club trophy. Jordan Opoku argues that, he and his teammates must do their best to win to bring honour to the King and Asante Kotoko.
“Nana’s words of encouragement and advice is about what he wants us to win for Asante Kotoko and that’s the Champions League. All of us are ready to help with our God-given talent, [and to] do whatever it takes to bring honour to Asanteman” said the midfielder.
On the responsibilities that comes with being the captain of Kotoko, Jordan Opoku counseled his teammates to see that, they have a shared responsibility. He maintained that, they have to come together and function as a team since the task ahead is beyond a one person’s ability.
“Felix has been named as the captain of the team but the task ahead of us is beyond one individual. It is not for a number of players or the captain alone. It is for all of us. We all have duties to perform. We must stay as a group to support him for his reign to be successful.”
