Let peace prevail in RTU's front - Jawula

Tamale, June 24, GNA - Lepowura Alhaji Mohammed Nurudeen Jawula, Board Chairman of the Real Tamale United (RTU) has appealed to supporters and management of the team to stop the internal wrangling and rally behind the Club to ensure peace prevails and for the survival of the Club.

He said peace and unity in every institution ensures victory and success but that confusion in the Club would only bring about divisions and anarchy which would not enable the club to grow and reap the required results needed to survive as one of the biggest teams in the premiership.

Alhaji Jawula made the appeal in Tamale at the weekend when he interacted with some media personnel to throw more light on the current internal strife among some supporters of RTU and some of the management members.

Some sections of the supporters are calling for the resignation of Alhaji Adam Munkaila, acting Chairman of the Club while others are in support of his continued stay to manage the affairs of RTU, which has recently brought an uneasy calm in the Club in Tamale. Alhaji Jawula who is also the Lepowura, a traditional chief in the Kpembe Traditional Area near Salaga in the East Gonja District described the Club like the human body where every part had a role to play and that any part that is plunged off would render the body helpless. He said RTU has past through trying times right from its inception in 1976 up to date and expressed the hope that key players of the Club would see reason and allow peace and unity to prevail so that the team would continue to chalk successes.

Alhaji Jawula said, "I am only coordinating to ensure that there is unity and with God I belief that at the end of the day, all would co-operate and allow for compromises in the interest of RTU." He called on the media to play its role in ensuring that people of Dagbon and the entire Northern sector of the country commit themselves by showing keen interest to the growth and development of RTU and advised the various groups to desist from involving the sponsors of RTU in their local issues so that the interest of Club can be better served. "People say that RTU performed poorly in the last league season but to me they did well. They managed to beat a top Club like Kumasi Asante Kotoko, drew with Accra Hearts of Oak and AshantiGold on two occasions which was no achievement and are commendable."

On player transfer, Alhaji Jawula said the Club was negotiating for players from some of the clubs in the premiership to augment the present squad while about 10 players would also be transferred from RTU to some interested clubs.

The Lepowura expressed the hope that with the new stadium in Tamale the football loving people of the Northern Region would make maximum use of the facility to enjoy good soccer and advised all to avoid soccer hooliganism to give meaning to the construction of the stadium.
