Ghana's former captain, Stephen Appiah, has urged coach Otto Addo to demonstrate to the Black Stars players that he controls the affairs of the team.

Otto Addo was reappointed as the Black Stars' head coach after his first stint, where he led Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Stephen Appiah disclosed that he wants his former teammate to be firm in his decisions because Ghanaians cannot afford to miss the 2026 World Cup.

He urged the coach to be authoritative and independent in his decisions.

"He should let the players know that he is the boss. This is the situation where you have to put your foot down. I was with him in 2006, and he knows how important the World Cup is to Ghanaians," Appiah told 3Sports.

Otto Addo has a big task ahead to qualify Ghana for the 2026 World Cup.

The Black Stars sit fourth in Group I and have to top their group to earn a direct qualification to the next World Cup.
