Leroy gets GFA backing

The president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, says he is awaiting the outcome of an investigation in France before deciding the future of national coach Claude Le Roy.

The Frenchman, who was appointed the Black Stars coach last month, is facing a police investigation into alleged illegal transfer deals while coaching Strasbourg ten years ago.

"After last week's preliminary investigation, the presiding judge dismissed 16 of the 17 charges against him," Nyantakyi said.

"In accordance with the principle that the benefit of the doubt should always be resolved in favour of the accused person, Le Roy should be presumed innocent until otherwise proven guilty.

"At the moment, it is only fair and reasonable for all of us to "await and see" the outcome of the investigations."

Meanwhile, Le Roy has said he is innocent of any wrong-doing.

"I am confident the investigation will show that I am innocent of the allegations being levelled against me," Leroy told BBC Sport on Wednesday.

Le Roy's on-field tenure has started brightly, with two successive defeats of Japan and South Korea in last week's tour of Asia.
