League Board issue deadline to Regions

Accra, May 28, GNA - The Division One League Board has stated that June 9, will be the final deadline for the Regional Football Association's (RFA) to submit champions of the division two league for this years' National Division One league.

It said so far only the Volta, Brong Ahafo, Central and Upper West Regions have submitted the names of their champions for this year's division one league.

The clubs are Juapong Juantex from the Volta Region, Eduana Stars from the Brong Ahafo Region, Upper Stars from Upper West Region and Abora Schalke O4 from the Central Region.

Speaking to the GNA Sports, Mr Douglas Djarbeng, Chairman of the Division One League Board said the Regions were to submit their champions on May 15, but stated that only four of them have so far fulfilled the arrangement.

Mr Djarbeng said that the remaining six Regions are however, yet to do so due to a number of protests and counter protests in their concerning their league.

He said the league will kick off in the latter parts of June but that the Board is now waiting for the list of the Regional Division Two champions to enable them decide on a definite date for the commencement of the league.

Mr Djarbeng pointed out that the Board will be compelled to go ahead with the league if the Regions fail to name their champions at the expiration of the deadline.

The Chairman therefore appealed to the Regions to name their representatives in due time to ensure that the league takes off as scheduled.

The Division One league according to the Rules and Regulations of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) takes off one month after the National Premier league had taken off.
