Le Roy names 25 for Togo match

The local Black Stars team would gather in Accra this morning as Ghana gets ready for the weekend’s round of matches in the African Nations Championship.

Claude Le Roy has called up 25 players for the game as Ghana plays against Togo in the second round qualifier with the first leg match coming off at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Sunday.

Samuel Mantey, a player with division one team, Seven United, again makes the team selected by the Ghana coach with the bulk coming from the camps of Asante Kotoko and Heart of Lions, where five each were selected.

Also getting another call up is Salifu Latif of Liberty Professionals.

The young attacker missed the join the team prepare for the first round matches due to an injury picked up during a game for his club.

The Black Stars progressed to the second round stage after securing a 4-1 aggregate win over Niger last month.

Ghana are now games away from reaching the finals of the Africa Nations Championships, a new tournament designed by CAF for only home-based players of its member countries.

Ivory Coast will host the maiden competition from the 22nd of February till the 8th of March 2009.
