Ghana's top kick boxer, Lawrence Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai has switched from kicking and boxing to only boxing, and has pledged to win a title before quitting the noble art of self defence.

He told Modern Ghana that, there are many difficulties in kickboxing as it is not very popular in Ghana like in Asia.

"I have tried my best to make the sport poular, but it is not easy. Only a few media men like Samy Heywood Okine, the former Deputy Secretary of SWAG have supported, but it s not easy. I love to kick, but i have to decide my future as I have some promotions in boxing in Europe. I thing I have made a good decision" he said

Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai thanked everyone who has made him what he is today especially his late dad Samuel Nyanyo Nmai aka Ataa Nmai the Founder of Labadi Pleasure Beach, his senior brother who based in Switzerland, his family members, fighters under him and all his friends and his coach. He also praised Richard Commey because he is a true fighter and a friend.

He also commended Issaka Issah, also a kick boxer who turned into a boxer recently and won his first professional fight in Australia.

Watching him train at the D. G Hathramani Sports Hall in Accra, the boxer is so excited about switching from Muay thai kickboxing to Boxing and he said he is ready for any challenger who falls in his weight category.

Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai was honoured by the SWAG for his exploits in Kick boxing after he won bronze at the World Championships in Scotland.

He was also President of the Kick Boxing Federation in Africa, but now starting all over in boxing and hopes to rise very fast with his rich experience in training and fighting.
