Farouk Aliu Mahama, son of late former Vice President of Ghana Alhaji Aliu Mahama has called on the current Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to support in reviving sinking Real Tamale United.

Farouk’s late father, whiles in office, played a key role towards making the Northern giants a force to reckon with in Ghana Football.

Immediate past President John Mahama also contributed enormously in reviving the club but RTU now finds itself in the ‘wilderness’ of Ghana football.

The Pride of the North, after 33 years in the Ghana Premier League, were relegated in 2013 after failing to win a single league game the whole season and have since struggled to find their way back into Ghana’s top flight football.

But Farouk Aliu Mahama whose father was the Patron of the club before his demise has urged Dr. Bawumia play a key role in reviving the club.

Speaking to Class Sports, he said: “The legacy left by the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama will be continued by his [son], now Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamadou Bawumia.”

“He will work towards the aspiration of the people of the Northern Region in line with his mentor, the late Aliu Mahama and he will help in the rejuvenation of RTU and make the side a shining star in the North.”

RTU, now 6th in Zone 1 of the 2016/17 GN Bank Division One League, have no hopes of securing qualification this season and will zoom full force to secure promotion next season.
