Muntari Stretched Off as Inter Draw
There was not much joy for Ghana's big contingent of players based in Europe with yet another injury for Milovan Rajevac to worry about.
- Sulley Muntari was stretched off during Inter Milan's goalless draw against Genoa in the Italian Serie A but there is no suggestion yet that the Black Stars man will be in the treatment room for long.
- Matthew Amoah who has provided the headlines for Ghanaian players based in Europe failed to score for the first time in a competitive game this season as NAC drew 0-0 with Francis Dickoh's Utrecht FC.
The two Ghanaians went head to head in wet conditions but Dickoh was taken off after 35 minutes after taking a knock while Amoah tried in vein to find the goal, which would have given his side sole leadership of the Dutch Eredivisie.
But they are now joint top with FC Gronigen while Amoah now also shares top spot in goal scoring charts with nine goals with AZ Alkmaar's Mounir El Hamdaoui. - In Amoah's absence it was Sam Yeboah, top scorer in the Israeli League last season who grabbed the headlines with a brace for Happoel Tel Aviv to give them a 2-0 win over Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv.
- Bernard Yao Kumordzie was also on the score sheet for his Greek side Panionis hitting the final goal in the 5-2 win over Ergotelis away from home.
- While Kumordzie tasted a big victory, Nana Asare was the end of a humiliating defeat in Belgium. The former Gomoa Feyernood player said to be a target for Racing Genk was part of the Mecheleen team that were hammered 7-1 by leaders Anderlecht.
- Issah Ahmed played in a 2-2 draw for Randers FC against AAB but yet again there was no David Addy in the Danish League.
- In France, Moussa Narry continued to impress for Auxerre who drew goalless with reigning champions Lyon.
- Dede Ayew was a 77th minute substitute for Lorient who notched only their second win of the season with a 3-0 drubbing of Nantes.
- And as if this was destined to be a substitute week for Ghanaians, Isaac Vorsah came on in the 74th minute as his team Hoffeinheim continued their fine start to the Bundesliga with a 3-0 thrashing of Hamburg that gave them top spot.
