AshantiGold Chief Executive Officer Kudjoe Fianoo says Lawrence Larteys move to Ajax Cape Town was inspired by his ambition to earn a Black Stars call up.

The 23-year-old signed a two-year contract on Monday to become the latest acquisition of the South African club.

Lartey had been angling for a move to Ajax Cape Town for the past two years but the PSL side failed to reach an agreement with AshGold.

And despite leading the Miners to clinch their first domestic league title close to two decades and with the chance to play in the CAF Champions League, the former Ghana U20 captain forged ahead with his move to Ajax.

AshGold CEO Kudjoe Fianoo says the departure of his central defender is in pursuit of his dream to grab the attention of the Black Stars coaches.

Lawrence has ambitions to play for the Black Stars so he feels that if he goes out there and does well, he will be able to catch the eyes of the national team handlers, he said.

Lawrence Lartey joined AshantiGold four seasons ago after leading Nania FC to beat Asante Kotoko to clinch the MTN FA Cup title.

He has been one of the consistent performers in the Ghanaian top flight and was named in the Premier League XI team last season.
