LIVE UPDATES: Sweden vs Switzerland

Sweden face Switzerland today Sweden face Switzerland today

The 2018 World Cup is shaping up nicely and today we come your way with two interesting fixtures.

We have England versus Colombia as our top fixture for the day but that match will be preceded by the penultimate last 16 tie between Sweden and Switzerland.

Switzerland came second in Group E with 5 points and will come up against a Swedish team that surprised many to pick the top spot in their group following a 3-0 thumping of Switzerland.

Switzerland are one of the sides yet to taste a defeat in the tournament and the likes of Xhaka, Shaqiri and their mates will have to punch above their weight if they want to pick one of the two available spots in the quarter finals.

Sweden have carved a niche as a very organized and discipline that rely on long balls and have forwards with the height to nod home the crosses from Gustav Svensson., Forsberg and other midfielders.

A blow for Sweden is that they will battle the Swiss without the services of influential midfielder Sebastian Larsson whose incisive crosses and set-pieces have proven useful in the tournament.

Switzerland have two of their key defenders ruled out due to suspension. Fabian Schar and right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner will have to watch the game from the stands.

This will be the 29th meeting between Sweden and Switzerland but the first ever at a major tournament.

Sweden are unbeaten in their last three games against Switzerland with their last game coming in March 2002.
