LIVE UPDATES: San Pedro vs Asante Kotoko

Welcome to Ghanaweb’s comprehensive-text coverage of the CAF Confederations Cup game between San Pedro and Asante Kotoko at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny.

The Porcupines failed to record a resounding victory over the Ivorians last Sunday and only managed a narrow 1-0 win at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi last Monday.

They now face a huge task of eliminating San Pedro to qualify for the group stage of the Confederation Cup in their opponent’s backyard.

This game presents Kotoko with a final opportunity to continue playing in Africa’s inter-club competition this year after they were eliminated from the CAF Champions League by Etoile du Sahel 2-3 on aggregate.

This is the second season the Ivorian side are participating in the CAF confederations cup after being eliminated by Nkana FC during last year’s play-off. However, they have gone past the stage they reached last year and are hoping to down the Ghanaian giants in order to seal a place in the group phase.

The Reds enjoyed an impressive unbeaten home record in the competition under the guidance of Coach CK Akonnor who spearhead to a historic feat last season. Similarly at this phase last season, the Porcupines defeated Coton Sport 5-3 on aggregate scoreline to advance to the next stage.

Coach Kjetil Zachariassen has however made four changes to his starting line up with Burkinabe striker, Songye Yacouba warming the bench.
