LIVE UPDATES: Napoli vs Liverpool (Uefa Champions League)

Liverpool begin their Champions League title defence against Napoli Liverpool begin their Champions League title defence against Napoli

Hello and good evening to another Champions League season. We've missed it.
Yeah, alright, so it's only normally compelling after Christmas once we get into the knockout rounds. But guess what?

There are some belting games in the groups this year.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says last season's Champions League win does not make them the best team in Europe.

The Reds' 2-0 victory over Tottenham in June's final in Madrid gave Klopp his first major trophy with the club.

"There are a lot of good teams out there and you have to prove that constantly," said the German.

"We cannot be the best team in Europe because Manchester City are the best team in the world - that's the same planet, I heard.

"Last season, we were really good. I'm not too sure we were the best team in Europe, but we were really good in the right moments and that's why we won the Champions League."

While both sides playing tonight should pass into the knockout stages with a minimum of fuss, retaining their title this season will be an extremely tall order for Liverpool.

Since the European Cup morphed into the bloated, money-spinning behemoth that is the Champions League 27 years ago, only Real Madrid – with their trio of back-to-back-to-back titles earlier this decade – have managed to win more than one in a row.

Kick-off tonight is at 7pm GMT, but stay tuned for team news and build-up in the meantime.

Other games tonight are;
Dortmund vs Barcelona

Chelsea v Valencia

Internazionale vs Slavia Prague
