Kwesi Appiah admits difficulties in final squad selection

Black Stars Coach James Kwesi Appiah has admitted that the technical handlers are faced with a big headache as they prepare to name his final 23-man squad for the World Cup by June 2.

Currently, with his team in the Netherlands, the 53-year-old gaffer says he has been impressed with the level of seriousness and focus displayed by his charges since the pre-tournament preparations began in Accra on May 20.

Coach Appiah invited 26 Players to camp and is expected to whittle it down to 23 for the mundial but the Ex-Stars Skipper has revealed the performances of the players is really good and that gives the technical handlers a lot of headache.

“Yesterday, I was having a chat with my assistant and I am like now we’ve got a big headache and he says yeah I know [sic]”

“The good thing is, the performance of all the players is really good; it is high in that aspect. It is good for the team and it gives the technical team a big headache as to who to drop at the end of our pre world cup preparations,” Appiah added.

Coach Kwesi Appiah is expected to communicate his final squad of 23 for the World Cup after Saturday’s international friendly with the Netherlands. Kick-off is at 7pm.
