Kwasi Appiah won't go - Nyantakyi

The Ghana Football Association has maintained Kwasi Appiah as Coach for the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

The team performed poorly and finished 4th in the just ended AFCON tournament in South Africa, falling short of set target of lifting the trophy.

But addressing the media at the GFA Secretariat on Friday, FA President Kwasi Nyantakyi said the FA will keep Kwasi Appiah as Head Coach of the team, adding that firing coaches is not the panacea to the team’s poor show.

The FA president admitted the team put up a poor performance and said his outfit will do its best to strengthen the capacity of the coach.

Meanwhile, Kwasi Appiah has apologized to Ghanians for failing to win the trophy.

He said he will do his best to harness committed talents in the team in order to enhance their performance in future to advance the Ghana course.

Answering a question as to why he changed Wakaso Mubarak during the semi-final clash with Burkina Faso, Kwasi Appiah explained the player suffered injury in the hip and knee during the game, necessitating the change.

He said Andre Ayew is part of the team and will play a key role in subsequent games as long as he is declared fit by team doctors.
