Kwasi Appiah clarifies captaincy rotational policy comments

Former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah has clarified his comments on the captaincy rotational policy, explaining that his recommendation is meant for the future.

Appiah suggested that to prevent the perennial captaincy row that has plagued the team, a rotational policy similar to that of Brazil could be implemented.

Speaking on ATL FM in Cape Coast the ex-gaffer of the national team explained that for now Dede Ayew is the captain and should be left to lead the team.

' I was a not saying Ghana should adopt the captaincy rotational policy now since it will make no sense because Dede Ayew has just been handed over the armband. I was suggesting that if there are captaincy challenges in the team in the future then we can try the rotational policy, maybe it could work for us.'

He further opined that ' I was not advising the current head coach as purported in the media to change the captain but I was suggesting an option should we find ourselves in the same soup in future as a country'.

Appiah thinks that change is difficult but some countries have tried it and there is nothing wrong trying new thing if the old system keeps generating issues.
